The original record book referred to in The Prisoner List is now available for viewing online. However, given the very sensitive nature of its contents (e.g. names of individuals with dates and causes of death etc), I prefer to restrict availability to those people who are sufficiently interested in it to be prepared to take the time and trouble to submit a short application form, giving their own contact details and briefly stating why they wish to see it.

Why do you wish to see the original record book? *

Although the record book covers over a thousand names, this is less than 1% of all Allied POWs taken by the Japanese. The chances are therefore heavily stacked heavily against any given POW's name appearing in it. Please therefore confirm one of the following: *

I have a specific reason for believing that the person who I want to look up will be named in the record book. (This will most likely be because he was shipped from Singapore to Saigon in April 1942.) I understand that the person I wish to look up is unlikely to be named in the record book, but I would like to check anyway. I am not seeking to look up a particular individual but am applying to view the record book out of general interest.
